Sunday, Dec. 12: Holiday music and parties abound!

There's so much going on today in and around the 'Cuse that it's difficult to pick just one! Here's a listing:

  • Fred “Fritz” Scherz, Jr., Councilman on the Verona Town Board and leader of Fritz's Polka Band, hosts a Holiday Party for all Town of Verona residents at the Verona Fire Hall (1 Volunteer Ave., Verona) starting at 1 p.m.
  • The weekly Old-Time Music Jam kicks off at 1 p.m. at Kellish Hill Farm (3192 Pompey Center Road, Manlius). A $2 donation is suggested.
  • The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra presents Handel’s “The Messiah” will be performed with the Syracuse University Oratorio Society at the Mulroy Civic Center’s Crouse-Hinds Concert Theater (411 Montgomery St.), 3 p.m. - $31.
  • Syracuse Vocal Ensemble at the Liverpool First United Methodist Church (604 Oswego St., Liverpool), 3 p.m. - Adults $20, Seniors $17, Students $5.
  • The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble at the United Church of Fayetteville (310 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville), 3 p.m. - Adults $8, children $6.
  • Slide Ireland at Cazenovia College’s Catherine Cummings Theater (Lincklaen Street, Cazenovia), 4 p.m. - $24 admission.
  • Bristol Mountain Bluegrass holiday party at 4 p.m. at the Marcellus American Legion (13 Main St., Marcellus). Admission is $10.
  • Cute Is What We Aim For, Short Notice, Give Us Jersey, Saving Fairview, The Narrative and Phone Calls From Home at Lost Horizon (5863 Thompson Road), 5 p.m. - $12 at the door.
  • Christmas Cantata featuring SBC Living Tree Chorus at the Second Baptist Church (1 N. Herman Ave., Auburn), 7 pm. - free admission.
  • Holiday Christmas Open House with MasterWorks Chorale (2 p.m.) at Westminster Presbyterian Church; Herman Avenue School Chorus (1:30 p.m.) at Willard Memorial Chapel; Auburn Chamber Orchestra (4 p.m.) at St. Francis Of Assisi; and Finger Lakes Camerata (3 p.m.) at St, Mary’s Church all in Auburn.
  • The Horizon Community Chorus at Christ United Methodist Church, Moravia, 4 p.m.

At the clubs
  • Anyela’s Vineyard (2433 W. Lake Rd., Skaneateles) - John Spillett Jazz Duo, 2 p.m.
  • Avicolli’s Restaurant (170 Fall St., Seneca Falls) - Kevin Minnoe, 6 p.m.
  • Big Kahuna’s (17 Columbus St., Auburn) - Electric Moonpies, 6 p.m.
  • Bridge Street Tavern (109 Bridge St., Solvay) - Open Mike with Johnny Rage, 7 p.m.
  • Castaways (916 Route 37, Brewerton) - Country Castaways with George Leija, 2 p.m.
  • Coleman’s Authentic Irish Pub (100 S. Lowell Ave.) - Blarney Rebel Band, 4 p.m.
  • Empire Brewing Company (120 Walton St.) – Los Blancos, 12:30 p.m.
  • Gary’s (East Bridge St., Oswego) – Open Mic with Bill Oeinck, 4 p.m.
  • Moondance Tavern (2512 Route 20, Marcellus) – Perry-Mulhauser Blues Union, 5 p.m
  • Morgan’s of Syracuse (329 Fay Rd.) - Jerry Cali, 7 p.m.
  • Red Rooster Pub (4018 Jordan Rd., Skaneateles Falls) – Two Feet Short , 4 p.m.
