The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony takes place tonight in Syracuse's Clinton Square. The event includes performances byu the Chittenango High School choir, the Spirit of Syracuse, and the Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps. The tree will be lit at 8 p.m.

Kelly Clarkson to play Turning Stone Jan. 19

Kelly Clarkson returns to Turning Stone Resort and Casino Jan. 19 as part of her Stronger Tour. Kelly is promoting Stronger, her fifth studio album since winning American Idol in 2002. The album, which was released Oct. 24, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart.

Kelly will by joined on the tour by Matt Nathanson.

The January show will be Kelly's second Turning Stone appearance. She last performed at the Event Center in October 2007. She returned to Central New York in August 2009 for an appearance at the New York State Fair.


Tickets for the show are $35, $45 and $50, and go on sale Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. at the Event Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and 877-833-7469.

    Idol's Kellie Pickler coming to Turning Stone


    'American Idol' season 5's country sweetheart, Kellie Pickler, is set to perform at the Showroom at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona Dec. 15.

    Tickets are $39, $44 and $54 and are on sale at the Showroom Box Office, by calling 361-SHOW or at any Ticketmaster location. 

    Kellie is touring to promote her third album, 100 Proof, which drops Jan. 24. The album was produced by Frank Liddell (Miranda Lambert and Lee Ann Womack) and Luke Wooten.

    The show starts at 8 p.m.

    Another 'Idol' alum, season 6 runner-up, David Archuleta, will also perform at Turning Stone next month. David's "My Kind of Christmas Tour" is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $55, $60, and $65.
