Fritz's Polka Band song nominated for national award
Fritz's Polka Band has been nominated for a National Award by the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame in Euclid, Ohio. FPB’s original song, "Come Home Safe" is up for the New Original Polka or Waltz award. The song was written by Fritz Scherz and is on FPB's CD Tribute, which was released in 2009.
The winner will be announced at the Crystal Awards Show XXIII, held at the Slovenian National Home at 6409 St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, November 27th at 2pm.
"The guys in my band are happy that "Come Home Safe" has been nominated,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of Fritz's Polka Band. "I wrote that song in honor of my friend of many years, Mike Bolton in mind, as he was deployed overseas serving our country at the time I wrote it. I’m pleased to say that he did come home safe. We want to thank all our fans, the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame, the media, and of course our great sponsor Jagermeister for making this nomination possible!”
Fritz's Polka Band is also in the running for a SAMMY award in the People's Choice Best Band category. To get FPB on the ballot, click here and fill out the form.
