The 2010
New York State Blues Festival scheduled for July 9-11 at Syracuse's Inner Harbor has been canceled. Todd Fitzsimmons, president of the festival's board of directors, made the announcement today citing a drop of nearly 80 percent in funding from the state, private, and public donors. New York state's contribution to the event was reduced from $27,000 to $6,000 and the festival was unable to sign any major corporate sponsors.
The event had been paired with the Empire State Brewing and Music Fest held in Clinton Square. This year, the festival was to move to the Inner Harbor. That festival is scheduled for July 16.
