FPB's Tom Campbell retiring from band
Fritz's Polka Band (FPB), that comes in the form of an announcement from the band's leader, Fritz Scherz that longtime guitar player and vocalist, Tom Campbell, will be retiring at the end of the year.
Tom has been with the band since 1987, appearing on 14 of the band's recordings. In addition, Tom has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame's Best Vocalist Annual Award (1998 and 2000) and Sideman of the Year” Award (1998, 2000, and 2003).
“I'm going to miss having Tom in my band,” Fritz said in his press release. “He had a great musical style, whether it was playing guitar, singing, and/or yodeling. Besides that, he had a fun personality and liked to break chops! To do as many gigs as we do, all those traits are a big plus! I wish nothing but the best for Tom and a very fun retirement!”
On a personal note, I'll miss Tom's sense of humor! Best wishes for a happy retirement Tom!
