Saturday, July 10: Candlelight Series starts tonight in Armory Square

The annual Candlelight Series kicks off tonight in Armory Square at the corner of West Jefferson and South Franklin Streets. The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra headlines the concert, which also features the Salvation Army Syracuse Citadel Choir and the New Life Choir. The free concert starts at 6:30 p.m.

• The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra performs three separate concerts today at various venues. The concerts start at 2 p.m. and include the SSO String Quartet (Betts Branch Library, 4862 S. Salina St.), the SSO String Quartet II (Paine Branch Library, 113 Nichols St.), and the SSO Brass Quartet (Soule Branch Library. All the concerts are free to the public.
• Jimmy Buffet tribute band, Parrots of the Caribbean, headlines tonight at Papermill Island (136 Spensieri St., Baldwinsville) as part of the MSK Island Fest. Turnip Stampede opens Music starts at 8 p.m. and there's a $5 admission charge.
• Inaugural Haley Rice Memorial Motorcycle Ride begins at 10 a.m. at Harley’s Pub and ends at Big Kahuna's (17 Columbus St., Auburn) at 1 p.m. with music by Ron Spencer Band and MC Art Wenzel.

Monday, July 5: Fritz's Polka Band on 'Bridge Street'

My pal Fritz Scherz and his awesome band, Fritz's Polka Band, appeared on 'Bridge Street' (WSYR NewsChannel 9, Syracuse) Monday morning, performing a couple of songs. Fritz had a chance to talk about the band's history and introduce the band to the viewing audience. Thanks to 'Bridge Street' for featuring the band.
