Bret Michaels plans to return November 26

Bret Michaels talks to reporters in Syracuse Thursday (Nicholas Lisi / The Post-Standard)

Wednesday, Market Block Party promoter Mike Banks, announced that the Bret Michaels concert scheduled for Aug. 5 had been postponed. He cited scheduling as the reason, but did not elaborate. But apparently, no one told Bret Michaels who, along with his band, arrived in Syracuse early Thursday morning.

For most of the day, Michaels' tour buses were parked outside the Regional Market while, presumably, negotiations were underway. These negotiations proved unsuccessful, however, and after announcing the band would return November 26 for a show in as yet to be determined location, Michaels and company have left Syracuse. Apparently, Banks was unable to come up with the bands' deposit due to low ticket pre-sales.

Here's where it gets sticky. Michaels said tickets for Thursday's show will not be honored when he returns. Anyone holding a $20 ticket will have to contact the promoter at his Web site for a refund.

Hopefully, Banks will make good on his promise to those who purchased tickets in good faith. This situation leaves a lot of questions unanswered and certainly does not shed a positive light on Mr. Banks' operation. I am not a huge Bret Michaels fan, but I was planning on going to the show. Fortunately, I didn't buy a ticket! All these leaves me a bit embarrassed, actually.

Click here for a photo gallery of Michaels' day at the Regional Market courtesy the Post-Standard. He had enough class to meet fans and sign autographs despite everything that was going on. That says a lot, I think.
