Thursday, August 25: Maroon 5 headlines tonight’s opening concert at the NYS Fair

The great New York State Fair opens today and tonight, Maroon 5 and Train kick off this year’s Grandstand entertainment lineup. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $35. Two great acts perform today at Chevy Court. The Pointer Sisters take the stage at 2 p.m. and at 8 p.m. you can enjoy Larry Gaitlin and the Gaitlin Brothers. Admission to Chevy Court shows are free with paid Fair admission.

    Sunday, August 7: New Riders of the Purple Sage in the ‘Cuse today

    New Riders of the Purple Sage headline today’s music lineup as the Middle Ages Brewery celebrates its 16th anniversary in Leavenworth Park (120 Wilkinson St.). Sirsy, The Dig, Animal Pants, Dark Hollow and the Packway Handle Bar will also perform. Music starts at 2 p.m. Admission is free.


    Arts and Wine Festival in Cortland

    There’s music all day in Courthouse Park (Church and Greenbush Streets, Cortland) as part of the Arts and Wine Festival. Performers include the Cortland Area Flute Ensemble (10 a.m.), the Basin Street Band (11 a.m.), the Steve Daniels Trio (noon), the Djug Django Gypsy Swing Band (1 p.m.), the Cortland contingent of the Syracuse Chorale (2 p.m.), jazz percussion duo Drumaticymbalism (3 p.m.), the Crown City Brass (4 p.m.) and the Fall Creek Brass Band (5 p.m.).     'CMT's Next Superstar' winner Matt Mason to perform in Utica

    Matt Mason, winner of CMT's Next Superstar, will be performing Sept. 17 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Matt is one of the opening acts for Luke Bryan's Tailgates and Tanlines tour, which kicks off Sept. 15.

    Josh Thompson and Lee Brice are also part of the tour.

    Tickets go on sale Aug. 12.
