Why can't Syracuse get some big name shows?

Dave Matthews performed at Alliance Bank Stadium in 2009
I updated the concert calendar over the weekend and included shows outside the area. It irritates me that we can't seem to get any big name shows in Syracuse. Sure, Turning Stone attracts some biggies, but other than the state fair gigs, we are in a real concert drought.

What happened to bringing shows to Alliance Bank Stadium? Two years ago Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and John Mellancamp all rocked the stadium and attendance was epic. We were promised more shows at that venue, but last year, nothing. Then we had the debacle at the Regional Market (Brett Michaels showed up for a concert that was canceled). The concert series at Syracuse's Inner Harbor was a hit, but even that event couldn't make enough money to continue. No wonder people don't want to play here. Maybe we've been blackballed?

Syracuse does draw smaller shows at various venues, but the big names hop right over us, playing Rochester and Albany. It hasn't always been that way. I remember seeing some great shows at the Dome (the WHO, Rolling Stones). People showed up for those.

Let's get Syracuse back on the musical map. Anyone have any ideas?
