Saturday, August 7: Benny Mardones at Monirae's and more

Benny Mardones and the Hurricanes return to CNY tonight for a special show at Monirae's (688 County Route 10, Pennellville). Kim Fetters and Andy Rudy, and Kane open the show, which starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 at the door.

  • Fritz's Polka Band is at Old Home Day in Vernon Center for a show starting at 10 a.m.
  • Nancy Kelly, the Rick Holland Little Big Band, E.S.P. and the Dominic-Barlow Band perform in downtown Wolcott as part of the Central New York Wine and Jazz Fest. Music starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Admission is free.
  • Under the Gun and the Mike Estep Band perform as part of the Island Fest Series at Papermill Island in Baldwinsville. Music starts at 5 p.m. and admission is $5.
  • The Syracuse Opera performs a program entitles "Arias at the Armory" for tonight's edition of the Candlelight Series concert in Armory Square. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and there is no charge for admission.
  • Steve Earle and Allison Moorer are at the Oneonta Theatre (47 Chestnut St., Oneonta) for a 7 p.m. concert. Tickets are $36.50.
  • The Big Break Competition starts tonight at 7 p.m. at the Westcott Theater (524 Westcott St.). Bands include J. Schnitt, Catastrophe Me, Dopamine and The Hellfish. Admission is $10.
  • Maroon 5 and openers Owl City and VV Brown at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) (Finger Lakes Community College campus, 3355 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua). The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 and $52.
  • Sue Foley and Peter Karp at the Earlville Opera House (18 E. Main St., Earlville) at 8 p.m. General admission is $18, $13 for students.
  • Bikers For Babies with music by the Rhythm Method (2 p.m.) at Jamesville State Beach Park. The bike ride starts at Champions For Life, Auburn
  • Auburn Musicians Reunion at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Auburn (6 p.m.)
