Friday, June 25: Syracuse Jazz Fest kicks off today

The 28th annual Syracuse Jazz Fest kicks off tonight on the campus of Onondaga Community College. The event is free and parking is $5 per car. Along with great music, this year, the festival will feature the Syracuse Peace Council Crafts Fair. Here's Friday's music schedule:

  •  2:30 p.m. - Henninger High School Jazz Ensemble directed by Michelin Keleher
  • 3:30 p.m. - City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation Stan Colella All-Star Band
  • 4:30 p.m. - Westhill High School Jazz Ensemble
  • 6 p.m. - Solvay High School Jazz Combo
  • 7:30 p.m. - OCC Jazz Band
Clinics, master classes, meet-the-artist sessions in Whitney ATC
  • 2 p.m. - Jeff Lorber piano master class, Room 153
  • 4 p.m. - Randy Brecker trumpet master class, Room 102/103
  • 5 p.m. - Richard Bona bass master class, Room 153, 5 p.m.

  • Atlantic Flyway, Driftwood and John Cadley and The Lost Boys at Kellish Hill Farm Music Barn, Manlius at 8 p.m.
  • Kelly Birtch and Maria DeSantis perform at at fundraiser at Cafe at 407 (407 Tulip St., Liverpool). Admission is free.
  • The Glengarry Bhoys are at the Center for the Arts (72 S. Main St., Homer) for an 8 p.m. show. General admission is $20 ($16 for seniors and $10 for students).
